Rothman's Guide To Podcasts.

Every week, there are roughly seven podcasts that I deem to be to be non-missable.
This is one of the reasons I'm not as prolific on the blog as I I've been in the past.
I spend most of my time reading the great podcasts
Herewith my favorite podcasts.

1-Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal.Podcast..
A new one posts every Monday.
Gilbert is probably the funniest person on earth, and lends his able skills to this interview show.
If your time is limited to listen to podcasts, this is the one to go out of your way to listen to.

2-Thought Spiral.  Hosted by Andy Kindler and J. Elvis Weinstein.  Two very talented comedians.
First rate funny.

3-WTF with Marc Maron.  A great comedian.  It's very guest dependent.  This week this week he has
Jay Leno. He's a great interview.  Marc brings the best out of him.

4-The Larry Miller Show.  A wonderfully positive force, and funny as hell.

5-The Carson Podcast.  Totally guest dependent and but boy do they have a lot of good ones.
The host seems a little amateurish.  To much begging for money.

6-Leonard Maltin on Movies.  The movies are sometimes more interesting than Leonard is.

7-Here's the Thing- hosted by Alec Baldwin.  He's a very good host.  The subject matter has to grab you.

8-Stu's Show--Maybe I'm a little predjudiced here. as I've appeared on it  twice for a total of 8 hours.. If you're interested in hearing me yakking you can find these interviews on Stusshows website.

9-All of the Above With Norman Lear.  Great guests, and Norman's fascinating.  The problem I have is that I never liked any of his shows.  But that doesn't stop the podcast from being compelling.
So times we've go by and he doesn't have a new entry. It makes you wonder if he's all right.   96,. you wonder about his health.

10- The David Feldman Show--Very funny and very literate show with a strong liberal viewpoint.

If you've got some that I left out, let me know.

My books, "Show Runner" and "Show Runner 2" can be found at the Amazon Kindle Store,
along with newer ones, "The Man Is Dead", and "Report Cards".
They are all compilations of blog entries have since been removed from the blog.
So this is the only way you can find them.,
You can search by typing in my name, Cindy Williams, Laverne and Shirley, The Odd Couple, or Happy Days.
Check them out.
You don't need a Kindle machine to download them.
Just get the free app from Kindle, and they can be downloaded to an IPhone, IPad, or Blackberry.
The paperbacks, "Mark Rothman's Essays" and my new novel, "I'm Not Garbo" are not e-books.
But they are available for people without Kindle.
I have many readings and signings lined up for those, and the thing about Kindle is you can't sign one.
If you'd like one of the paperbacks, personally autographed, contact me at macchus999@comcast.net
And now, there's my reading of my screenplay of my unmade "Laverne and Shirley" movie on "YouTube".

  1. Great list! As for Gilbert, he's wonderful on the show, but it wouldn't work without Frank Santopadre. They are the perfect pair & make the perfect podcast.

I too listen to The Carson Podcast, but can't stand the host; his voice bothers me! His questions are often....
dumb(!) & that he bleeps out rough language is appalling. As I listen I wonder why he even has the gig.

I also listen to Norman Lear, wishing he'd been able to do this when he was a bit younger.

"You Must Remember This," stories about 20th century Hollywood isn't perfect,
(the host isn't always the actress she wishes she were) but I still enjoy hearing someone, anyone talk about the good old days.

"A More Perfect Union" has been an enjoyable political program. I've come to enjoy this foursome and their banter.

And if you want to listen to an amazing story, go to the podcast "FOUND" and check out Season 1, Episode 3, "Found Baby."

About Me

Hi. I am, according to my Wikipedia entry,(which I did not create) a noted television writer, playwright, screenwriter, and occasional actor. You can Google me or go to the IMDB to get my credits, and you can come here to get my opinions on things, which I'll try to express eloquently. Hopefully I'll succeed. You can also e-mail me at macchus999@aol.com. Perhaps my biggest claim to fame is being responsible, for about six months in 1975, while Head Writer for the "Happy Days" TV series, for Americans saying to each other "Sit on it."
