I had one almost run-in with him.
In the early seventies, I lived in Hollywood, one block up from Schwab's Drugstore on Laurel Avenue. My sister lived directly across the street from me. We would have poker games at her apartment often.
One early Saturday night, I walked down to Schwab's. I don't even remember why. And there, waiting to pick up a prescription, was Peter Fonda.
It was easy to run into celebrities in Hollywood, so it was no big deal.
But my sister was the world's biggest Peter Fonda fan.
She had seen "Easy Rider" more than most humans.
My course was clear.
My sister was home.
I had to alert her.
I ran back up Laurel Avenue.
I knocked on her door.
She opened it. I told her that Peter Fonda was at Schwab's, right now.
After a moment of wondering if I was bullshitting her, she grabbed her shoes, put them on,
and with me, raced down the hill to Schwab's.
"How do you know he's still there?"
"Well there were two people ahead of him. I got out as soon as I could. He's probably still there."
That was enough for her.
He was still there when we got there, and I got to witness some of the great celebrity gawking.
We all got our money's worth.

Just get the free app from Kindle, and they can be downloaded to an IPhone, IPad, or Blackberry.
The paperbacks, "Mark Rothman's Essays" and my new novel, "I'm Not Garbo" are not e-books.
But they are available for people without Kindle.
I have many readings and signings lined up for those, and the thing about Kindle is you can't sign one.
