Report Card---"Liitle Women".

"Little Women" is the latest version of Louisa May Alcott's novel.
It is gorgeously made, and very effective.
Some great performances (Saiorse Ronin, Meryl Streep)
A very good movie.

On to the scoring.

Is it interesting?

Mostly.

B+.

Compelling even?

Not so much.

Is it good storytelling?

It takes a while to get going.
And is a little confusing.  One of them dies, and it took a good 20 minutes for my wife and I to determine if that is what in fact happened.

Is. it well written?

Yes.

Is it well cast? Well played?

Extremely.  Except for Bob Odenkirk, who seems out of place.  What's Saul doing here?

Did the director put such a personal stamp on it so that no one else could have made it?

It's is stylish.

How long does it take to establish the film's locale and time period?

Immediately.  The Civil War.  Northeast.

Is it too long? Too short?

It seems way long.

Is it believable? Do you care about the characters?.

Yes, and yes.

Do you think about it after you've seen it?

Not a lot.

Would it have been worth the thirteen bucks it would have cost to see it in the movies?
