Report Card---"Just Mercy"

"Just Mercy" is another movie about racial injustice in the South based on a true story that we first heard about on "Sixty Minutes".  Have we been here before?  I know I have.

Is it interesting?

Yes.

Compelling even?

The less you know about it, the more compelling it can be.

Is it good storytelling?

Yes.

Yes.

Is it well cast? Well played?

Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Foxx are first rate.

Did the director put such a personal stamp on it so that no one else could have made it?

No. It seems to be pretty standard stuff.

How long does it take to establish the film's locale and time period?

Beginning in 1986 to the present.

Is it too long? Too short?

Way long.

Is it believable? Do you care about the characters?.

Yes, and yes.

Is it predictable?

Way too predictable.  If you don't know about this case, you just didn't watch "Sixty Minutes".
